Gallery Talk: Observer

Gallery Talk: Observer examines the street photography of Norman S. Carr, whose forty-year legal career preceded his work as a photographer. Drawing on the perceptive eye he developed as a collector of twentieth-century photography, Carr photographs Washington, DC, and locations around the world.

Held in the Alper Gallery, the talk considers how Carr uses reflections, light, and color to turn ordinary scenes into layered explorations of place and perception. The program accompanies the exhibition *Observer: The Street Photographs of Norman S. Carr*.
