Nai Palm (of Hiatus Kaiyote)

Nai Palm, the three-time Grammy-nominated Australian artist, performs as a solo artist at Union Stage. Known for her work with Hiatus Kaiyote, she is a self-taught composer, instrumentalist, producer, vocalist, songwriter, and poet whose intuitive, infectious style draws on artists such as Thundercat and Cory Henry.

Nai Palm is the professional name of Naomi Saalfield. In addition to her solo career, she is a member of Hiatus Kaiyote, the Melbourne group formed in 2011. The band’s independently released debut album, *Tawk Tomahawk*, gained rapid support from influential R&B and hip-hop figures including Questlove, Jazzy Jeff, Erykah Badu, and Prince. Hiatus Kaiyote later signed with Salaam Remi’s Flying Buddha imprint, and their song “Nakamarra,” featuring Q-Tip, earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance, making them the first Australian act recognized by the Grammys in an R&B category.
