Guided Bird Walks invite visitors to explore Hillwood’s gardens with a birding specialist from the DC Bird Alliance. The volunteer-led walks introduce participants to Hillwood’s diverse bird population, the surrounding ecosystem, the relationship between local wildlife and the broader D.C. area, and Hillwood’s sustainability work. Since 2023, volunteers have recorded 105 bird species across the estate and continue to study the gardens for new discoveries.

The program welcomes both first-time birders and experienced observers. Participants should bring binoculars if possible; a limited number are available to borrow. Each walk is capped at 15 participants and requires at least four people to proceed.
