DECODING DANCE

DECODING DANCE is an entertaining, informative backstage exploration of five distinctly different dance works. Hosted by former New York City Ballet dancer Christopher d’Amboise, the program combines demonstrations with live performances to help audiences understand what to watch for, how choreography communicates meaning, and what a choreographer may intend.

D’Amboise will highlight dance steps and choreographic devices such as repetition, suspension, theme, and variation before the works are performed. The evening features dancers from New York City Ballet and the George Mason School of Dance, offering an inside look at choreography while deepening appreciation for dance in its many forms.
