Jubilee: Visions of Freedom & Joy Exhibit

In 2026, as the United States observes its 250th anniversary, JUBILEE: Visions of Freedom & Joy Exhibit emerges as a dynamic, multi-dimensional exhibition that challenges and expands the narrative of American freedom. Grounded in the historical gravity of Juneteenth and honoring the 100th birthday of the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” Ms. Opal Lee, this exhibition captures the full spectrum of the BIPOC experience through the definitive lens of liberation. It is a deliberate departure from narratives anchored solely in trauma, instead seeking to transcend pain to illuminate the profound joy, resilience, and creative excellence that have blossomed in the wake of emancipation. By juxtaposing the nation’s semiquincentennial with the delayed promise of June 19th, the exhibition invites a deeper conversation about what it means to be truly free.
