Basia Bulat

Basia Bulat brings her powerful, emotionally direct songwriting and distinctive voice to Pearl Street. A Juno-nominated artist and Polaris Music Prize short-listing, Bulat is known for commanding solo performances featuring instruments such as autoharp and charango, as well as for collaborations and large-scale performances with symphony orchestras.

Born in Toronto, Bulat grew up around her mother’s piano students and was influenced by Sam Cooke and Stax recordings. Since her 2007 debut, she has performed alongside Arcade Fire, The National, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Daniel Lanois, St. Vincent, Sufjan Stevens, Destroyer, and Andrew Bird. She has also contributed to major tributes honoring Leonard Cohen and The Band. Her 2016 album *Good Advice* was produced by Jim James of My Morning Jacket.
