Sunset Cinema at The Wharf: Apollo 13

This free outdoor screening of Apollo 13, presented by Pacifico Beer, is part of The Wharf's summer Sunset Cinema series on Transit Pier. The 1995 Ron Howard film stars Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Paxton and recounts the harrowing true story of the NASA mission that almost ended in disaster. The event is held in conjunction with America's 250th anniversary celebration, offering a classic blockbuster under the stars along the Washington Channel.

When: Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Showtimes: The movie begins at 7:30 PM. Limited adirondack chairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 7:00 PM.

Tickets: Free admission. No ticket required; just show up and enjoy.

Lineup: The film stars Tom Hanks as Jim Lovell, Kevin Bacon as Jack Swigert, and Bill Paxton as Fred Haise, with Ed Harris as flight director Gene Kranz.

Run time: The approximate runtime of Apollo 13 is 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Ages: All ages are welcome. Dogs on a leash are also permitted. You must be 21 or older to consume alcohol.

Food & Drink: Outside drinks are not allowed, but you may bring in food from any Wharf restaurant. The waterside bar Cantina Bambina serves cold Pacifico beer and mixed drinks throughout the movie, and the stageside kiosk Union Pie offers hot pizza.

Seating: You are welcome to bring your own blanket or folding chairs. Seating on the limited adirondack chairs is first-come, first-served.
