50 for 50: Jamie Hurst
“50 for 50: Jamie Hurst” presents Jamie Hurst’s paintings and related work exploring landscapes as settings for childhood play. Viewed through the nostalgic perspective of a mother, the scenes suggest possibilities for games, making, escape, connection, mystery, and memory.
The exhibition is part of Touchstone Gallery’s “50 for 50” initiative, which gives 50 community artists the opportunity to exhibit at the gallery during 2026, the year of Touchstone’s 50th anniversary. A reception for the exhibition is scheduled during its run.

Artist: Jamie Hurst
About the Artist: Hurst is a fine artist born in Clearwater, Florida, in 1984. After spending many years living abroad, she is now based in the greater Washington, D.C., area. She earned a BFA in Art History from the University of Florida in 2006.
Background: Hurst was recently an artist in residence with Artcelerate at the Made in Virginia location in Scott’s Addition, Richmond. That residency culminated in the solo exhibition “A Place For Play,” which included two-dimensional paintings and an interactive installation inviting visitors to take or paint a river rock from a pile displayed in front of the artwork. Before concentrating on her fine-art practice, Hurst worked as an art historian at Sotheby’s in New York and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
