The Tallest Man On Earth

The Tallest Man On Earth performs at Lincoln Theatre DC with Gwenifer Raymond as the opening act. Raymond is a Wales-born, Brighton-based instrumental guitarist known for combining fingerpicked blues, American Primitive guitar, Welsh musical influences, folk horror, and avant-garde textures into her distinctive “Welsh Primitive” style.

Raymond was born in Cardiff in 1985 and became interested in guitar after hearing Nirvana and Lead Belly. She later studied Mississippi blues, Appalachian folk, clawhammer banjo, and the work of John Fahey, while also drawing inspiration from punk, Dylan, Neil Young, and experimental music. After earning an MA and PhD in astrophysics at Cardiff University and moving to Brighton to work in AI and video-game programming, she was discovered while playing open mics and signed to Tompkins Square Records in 2017.

Her albums include *You Were Never Much of a Dancer* (2018), *Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain* (2020), and *Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark* (2025). Her music has also included a score for the 1907 silent horror film *The Red Spectre*. She has toured with artists including Michael Chapman, Michael Hurley, The Handsome Family, Lankum, Charlie Parr, Richard Dawson, Ryley Walker, and Squid, and has performed at WOMAD, Green Man, End of the Road, and Transmusicales.
