Susan Spungen: Talk & Tasting
Susan Spungen, celebrated cookbook author, food stylist, recipe developer, and founding food editor at *Martha Stewart Living*, presents a talk and tasting centered on her cookbook *Cookie Queen: 80+ Irresistible, Doable, Giftable Recipes*. In conversation with James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Claudia Fleming, Spungen will explore cookie-making as both a precise craft and a creative art, drawing on global traditions and sweet and savory flavor combinations.
The discussion will cover essential equipment, building a well-stocked cookie pantry, baking techniques, decorating guidance, and ideas for assembling cookie gift boxes. A book signing will follow for attendees who would like to have their book signed. An optional three-cookie pack, prepared by Capitol Jill Baking, includes halvah mandelbrot, jammy sandies, and cardamom black pepper cookies; the recipes contain nuts.
