Alfred Yun at the Silver Spring Jazz Festival

Alfred Yun brings a distinctive blend of jazz and Korean musical traditions to the Silver Spring Jazz Festival. The Korean-American pianist and composer draws on jazz, hip-hop, K-pop, and traditional Korean music, reflecting his upbringing in both Korea and the United States.

Yun was a 2023–2024 Artist-in-Residence at the Music Center at Strathmore, where he performed at the AMP club and took part in programs throughout the season. In 2026, he was selected for the Jazz and Sonic Arts: Improvised Music Residency at the Banff Centre for Art and Creativity. His 2025 album, *Voice and Phenomenon*, explores the many forms of the human voice, including gibberish, games, poetry, singing, spoken word, and laughter. The album was named one of Capital Bop’s top Washington, D.C.-area jazz albums of 2025.
