Gale Wallar: Parallelismus
Gale Wallar: *Parallelismus* is an exhibition at Touchstone Gallery exploring visual order through simplification, balance, repetition, and symmetry. Drawing on Swiss artist Ferdinand Hodler’s concept of *parallelismus*, the exhibition considers how recognizable landscapes can also function as modern abstractions rather than purely romantic or realistic depictions of place.
Wallar’s work applies formal principles including contrast, repetition, emphasis, proportion, and balance, alongside sensory elements such as color, line, value, mass, and space. The exhibition highlights symmetrical patterns in nature as a source of structure and order within a chaotic world.
