Humanography: Paramythia
Matina Marki Tillman presents *Humanography: Paramythia*, a solo exhibition of hand-pulled etchings depicting real and imagined human stories. The series takes its title from the Greek word “Paramythia,” which can mean both “fairy tales” and “consolation.” Although contemporary in subject, the works draw on the enduring forms, symbolism, and comforting language of traditional tales.
Tillman created the prints primarily from her own drawings on transparent media, along with several original digital collages. The editions use the solar-plate process, which develops images with ultraviolet light and water rather than acid and ground. Watercolor additions accompany the two-plate solar-plate etchings.
