The Speaks & Crash Boom Bang

The Speaks and Crash Boom Bang headline a Halloween party at Jammin’ Java, with Kill for Sushi also on the bill. The Speaks bring anthemic music and a history that includes a DC101 radio debut, multiple sold-out 9:30 Club performances, international releases, and extensive global exposure. Crash Boom Bang reunite in 2026 for their first Jammin’ Java appearance in nearly a decade, returning to the venue where their local following began.

The Speaks were active from 1997 to 2009 and included members of Filipino heritage. Their 2005 Warner Music Asia album *Life’s a Joke* produced the widely played single “High,” while their final EP, *This Is the Time*, was distributed by Universal Music Asia in 2008. They also shared stages with national acts, received heavy rotation on MTV Asia and MYX Music Channel, and continue to attract more than one million monthly streams.

Crash Boom Bang originally broke out in the early 2010s, selling out hometown shows and touring with Plain White T’s, Mayday Parade, and Gin Blossoms. Their releases include the *Gold Rush* debut album and the 2012 EP *These Wild Things*, whose songs appeared in films and television programs including *American Pie* and *Beauty and the Beast*. Their “V.I.P.” video surpassed 300,000 views, and *Gold Rush* was produced by Plain White T’s lead singer Tom Higgenson. After their last major show in 2014, the band members pursued separate paths; this one-night reunion celebrates their return with high-energy pop-rock, sing-along hooks, and the band’s signature live energy.

Kill for Sushi is the new project of Angie Pepa and her bandmates after eight years performing together as the female-fronted Washington, D.C., band Wandering Lies. The lineup includes guitarist Noli Conty, bassist Myk Menez, guitarist David Chaletzky, and drummer Ben Tufts. As Wandering Lies, they won four battles of the bands, received a 2021 Washington Area Music Association nomination for best rock group, and reached the 2020 finals to open the iHeartRadio Festival. Kill for Sushi is working on an album planned for release in 2026.
