Jason Calhoun, DAN, and Dogs share an experimental music and performance bill at Rhizome DC. The evening brings together Calhoun’s ambient electronics, DAN’s installations and live work combining sound with furniture, and Dogs’ blend of digital punk, ambient music, clarinet, and vaporwave.
Jason Calhoun is a Philadelphia-based sound artist whose past projects include Hour, ylayali, Obody, and Paper Armies. His solo work continues the musical direction of his project naps. He has released recordings through Patient Sounds Intl., Dear Life Records, Lily Tapes & Discs, Florabelle, Gertrude Tapes, and Bridgetown Records; his newest album, *revelations of divine love*, came out in August.
DAN is a DMV-area artist and educator whose installations and performances investigate the relationship between sound and furniture. Their recent work focuses on the intimacies of the Monobloc chair, described as the most widely manufactured and distributed chair in industrial history. Dogs is the project of Isaac, based in Sterling, Virginia.
