The Fairfax Symphony presents an evening pairing Alberto Ginastera’s virtuosic Harp Concerto with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral.” Acclaimed harpist Yolanda Kondonassis joins the orchestra as soloist, performing a concerto celebrated for its brilliance and demanding writing for the instrument.

Christopher Zimmerman conducts the program, which also opens with a world-premiere work by Hochstatter whose title is to be announced. Beethoven’s “Pastoral” offers a joyful musical depiction of nature, evoking flowing streams, birdsong, and the peacefulness of the countryside.
