On Art and History: Revealing Abstraction – Artists in Conversation

Join Adger Cowans, Shinique Smith, and Hank Willis Thomas for a conversation with Tuliza Fleming, PhD, Supervisory Curator of American Art at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The discussion will examine abstract art as a site for experimentation, personal expression, and cultural reflection, with particular attention to the creativity and influence of African American artists from the mid-20th century to the present.

Attendees can view *Revelation: A Journey into Abstraction* on Level 4 before the program, enjoy light refreshments, and purchase the exhibition’s companion publication through Smithsonian Enterprises.
