Smidley

Smidley, led by Conor Murphy, brings its evolving indie rock and indie pop project to Songbyrd Music House. The performance is connected to the band’s third album, *Murphy Horse*, which reflects Murphy’s struggle to balance his personal and professional identities and his decision to continue making music rather than leave the field.

The project grew out of Murphy’s work with Foxing and initially centered on a more intimate, predominantly folk-influenced sound. It has since expanded into an ambitious ensemble featuring Foxing bassist Brett Torrence on guitar, bassist Mitch Renfrew, and drummer Jack Middeke. The album explores uncertainty, legacy, artistic purpose, and the crossroads Murphy reached in both his life and career.
