Winter Big Band Showcase

The Winter Big Band Showcase celebrates the holiday season with a program of classic jazz standards and enduring seasonal favorites. Three UMD School of Music jazz ensembles perform in an evening of festive music at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

UMD’s jazz program includes more than 100 students. Its premier Jazz Ensemble regularly appears at off-campus events such as the Maryland Music Educators Association’s annual conference and local jazz festivals. The ensemble also performs at the Calvin Jones Big Band Jazz Festival, while UMD combos and big bands present outreach concerts at venues including the National Archives, public libraries, the National Building Museum, area schools, and university events.
