Takács Quartet Plays Beethoven
The Takács Quartet returns to The Clarice at UMD for a single Sunday afternoon concert devoted to Beethoven string quartets, marking the 200th anniversary of the composer's death. This performance is the second Clarice Presents appearance of the quartet's 2026–27 season and brings together three works spanning Beethoven's early, middle, and late creative periods. The program moves from the sixth quartet of Op. 18 to the compact and intense Op. 95, then closes with the Third "Razumovsky" Quartet, Op. 59, No. 3.

Its current members are violinists Edward Dusinberre and Harumi Rhodes, violist Richard O'Neill, and cellist Mihai Marica. The ensemble records for Hyperion, holds the title of Christoffersen Fellows in Residence at the University of Colorado Boulder, and was founded in 1975 at the Music Academy in Budapest before establishing its current base in North America.
