Esther Haynes • Keith Grimes • Dean Dalton
Esther Haynes, Keith Grimes, and Dean Dalton perform an intimate, easygoing set of acoustic swing, jazz, and American roots at Hank Dietle’s Tavern. Their understated approach is designed for attentive listening, with a warm blend of rhythm, soulful bass, expressive vocals, and tasteful guitar.
The trio brings considerable D.C.-area experience to the stage. Keith Grimes is recognized for his work as lead guitarist and co-musical director for the late Eva Cassidy, appearing on many of her acclaimed recordings. He has also performed with Chuck Brown, The Nighthawks, Bill Kirchen, and other notable artists. Esther Haynes contributes rhythm guitar and vocals, drawing on early jazz and classic American roots; she trained at Berklee, graduating summa cum laude, and is a 12-time Wammie winner for jazz and swing vocals. Her recordings, including *Moon Country*, have received awards and critical recognition. Bassist Dean Dalton supplies the trio’s deep, soulful foundation, informed by performances with regional blues and jazz artists such as Anthony “Swamp Dog” Clark, Bad Influence, and Built 4 Comfort.
