Sarau de Samba: Brazilian Samba Roots Experience

Sarau de Samba is EducArte’s monthly celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture, bringing the communal music, dance, and social traditions of Rio de Janeiro to Glen Echo Park. The afternoon combines live performance with participation, inviting guests to dance, sing, and play instruments alongside experienced Brazilian musicians and dancers.

Led by local Brazilian performers Pablo Regis, André Coelho, and Mariana Triginelli, the event explores samba’s broad range of styles, including Golden Age classics, choreography, modern pagode, and energetic carnival rhythms. Each session begins with a beginner dance lesson, and no previous experience, partner, or instrument is required. The program is designed for all skill levels and welcomes people of every age and background.
