Sweeping Promises

Sweeping Promises brings its distinctive, idiosyncratic punk sound to Union Stage. The duo of Lira Mondal and CauField Schnug formed the band in a disused concrete laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they recorded their debut album, *Hunger for a Way Out*, using a self-developed single-microphone method and mono mixing. The album emerged just as quarantine began and gained attention first among online punk audiences before reaching a broader following.

After touring the United States and abroad with live drummer Spenser Gralla, Mondal and Schnug relocated to Lawrence, Kansas, where they established a home and DIY recording space. Their sophomore album, *Good Living is Coming for You*, was released through Feel It Records in the United States and Sub Pop in Europe and the United Kingdom. Praised for its pop songwriting and unusual punk production, the record helped strengthen the band’s reputation as a powerful live act.
