Shakespeare Exhibition

Shakespeare Exhibition presents Shakespeare as a living historical figure rather than a distant literary monument. The exhibition explores the books and historical circumstances that shaped Shakespeare, the writer and his plays, and the continuing questions his work raises about power, identity, representation, and whose stories are told.

Highlights include all 82 copies of the Folger’s First Folios, a working reconstruction of a 17th-century printing press, and a commissioned work by contemporary artist Fred Wilson. The exhibition also examines Shakespeare’s cultural legacy and the ways his works continue to generate urgent questions.
