Shakespeare Exhibition

The Shakespeare Exhibition at the Folger Theatre is an immersive, multi-faceted exploration of William Shakespeare's enduring impact on literature, culture, and society. Rather than presenting a static biographical display, the exhibition interrogates Shakespeare's legacy through the lenses of power, identity, and storytelling, featuring highlights such as all 82 copies of the Folger's First Folios—the world's largest collection—a working reconstruction of a 17th-century printing press, and a newly commissioned work by contemporary artist Fred Wilson. The exhibition positions Shakespeare as a living historical figure whose works continue to generate urgent questions about whose stories get told and why, drawing visitors into a nuanced conversation about cultural authority and representation.
