Swapmeet

Swapmeet, a four-piece indie rock band from South Australia, performs at Songbyrd Music House with support from Baby Wave. The band’s sound combines bright, fuzzy guitars, energetic percussion, jangle pop, shoegaze, and alternative rock. The show is presented by Songbyrd and U+N Booking.

Swapmeet features Venus O’Broin on guitar and vocals; Joshua Doherty on bass; and Maxwell Elphick and Jack Medlyn, who share guitar, drums, and vocal duties. The members met as teenagers in Adelaide’s music scene, drawing early inspiration from 1990s alternative acts such as Pavement and Sonic Youth. After releasing a debut single in 2023 and the EP *Oxalis* in 2024, the group gained attention from Rolling Stone Australia and Triple J, toured larger Australian clubs as an opening act, and received the Emerging Artist and Best Performance awards at SXSW Sydney. The band is now preparing its debut album and previewing new material, including the buoyant, cathartic single “I Know!”
