Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra
The Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra leaves its usual orchestra-pit setting for a Millennium Stage performance in Studio K at The REACH. The full orchestra explores how incidental music conveys character and narrative, with the sections of the orchestra and their interplay taking center stage through works by Mendelssohn, Fauré, and Beethoven.
The October 15 program includes selections from Mendelssohn’s *A Midsummer Night’s Dream*—the Overture, Intermezzo, and Scherzo—followed by Fauré’s *Suite from Pelléas et Mélisande*, Op. 80, featuring “Prélude,” “Entr’acte: Fileuse (The Spinner),” “Sicilienne,” and “La mort de Mélisande (The Death of Mélisande).” The performance concludes with Beethoven’s Overture from *Egmont*, Op. 84.
