The Ohio Players bring their legendary funk and R&B sound to The Birchmere on June 20, 2026. As pioneers of 1970s street funk, the band earned three consecutive platinum albums – “Skin Tight,” “Fire,” and “Honey” – along with chart-topping singles including “Fire,” “Love Rollercoaster,” “Funky Worm,” and “Sweet Sticky Thing.” Their music has been sampled and covered by a wide range of artists, from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Dr. Dre to Beyoncé and Soundgarden. Today, the group consists of ten members, three of whom are original: James “Diamond” Williams (drums), Billy Beck (keyboard), and Clarence Willis (lead guitar). The band performs all its music live without computers or samplers, delivering the authentic 1970s sound that continues to draw enthusiastic fans worldwide.
