Jay Byrd
Jay Byrd is a Washington, DC–area guitarist, singer, and songwriter who performs roots-influenced Americana shaped by strong melodies and extended improvisational elements. His career includes work with the blues-rock trio The Groov and the Grateful Dead cover band Wavy Train, as well as original songwriting recognized by NewSong, the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest, and the Bernard Ebb Finalist list.
After moving to the DC area in 2001, Byrd focused on Americana material that combines pop sensibility with improvisation. His recorded work includes solo releases and three South Rail EPs, including the 2012 self-titled debut, 2014’s *Stars*, produced by Don Was, and 2018’s *Take The Wheel*.
