Korea Week 2026: In Partnership with the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor District Library

Korea Week 2026 is a cultural festival presented by the Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. in collaboration with the University of Michigan’s Nam Center for Korean Studies and the Ann Arbor District Library. The weeklong program invites the University of Michigan community and Ann Arbor residents to explore Korean culture through hands-on activities, educational programs, performances, and family offerings.

Activities include hanbok workshops, traditional Korean games and crafts, Korean ink wash painting, a lecture about Korean food and culture, Hangul activities, traditional Korean percussion, and Korean storytime for children and adults. A featured September 28 program, “The Beauty of Hanbok: Discovering Korean Culture Through Traditional and Modern Hanbok,” will be led by professional hanbok designer Laura Park and will examine hanbok’s history and cultural importance while introducing both traditional and contemporary styles. The festival is also intended to broaden access to Korean cultural experiences outside the Washington, D.C., area and support continuing partnerships with local educational and cultural institutions.

Featured Program: On September 28, Laura Park will present “The Beauty of Hanbok: Discovering Korean Culture Through Traditional and Modern Hanbok,” covering the garment’s history and cultural significance and offering an opportunity to explore traditional and modern hanbok styles.
