Mike D, best known as a founding member and drummer of the legendary Beastie Boys, brings his solo project “MIKE D 5D” to the 9:30 Club for a single-night performance. This show offers a rare chance to see the hip-hop and punk icon in an intimate setting, drawing on his decades of experience as a musician, producer, author, and cultural curator. From his early days stealing records on Manhattan’s Upper West Side to co-founding one of the most influential groups in music history, Mike D’s career has been a constant fusion of punk, rap, reggae, and avant-garde art. He helped define the Beastie Boys’ signature sound, oversaw the band’s groundbreaking visuals and videos, co-founded Grand Royal magazine and label, and later co-authored the #1 New York Times bestseller *Beastie Boys Book*.
