Physical Media Swap

Sun, Aug 9, 2026at 12:00 PM
6950 Maple Street Northwest, Washington, DC
Free

The Physical Media Swap is a free community gathering at Rhizome DC where attendees are invited to trade a wide variety of gently used physical media. The event operates on a simple swap model: bring your own items—VHS tapes, cassette tapes, CDs, records, DVDs, zines, stickers, badges, or even unsold merch from your former band—sort them onto the labeled tables, and then take whatever you want in return. The atmosphere encourages sharing and sustainability with the playful tagline “Death to streaming.” No money changes hands, though optional donations may be accepted.

When: Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Showtimes: The event runs continuously from noon until 4:00 PM; no set showtimes.

Tickets: Free; no ticket required. Donations are welcome but optional.

How it works: Bring your gently used physical media, sort it onto the corresponding table (VHS, CDs, records, etc.), then take any items you’d like and leave behind what you don’t want.

What to bring: VHS tapes, cassette tapes, CDs, records, DVDs, zines, stickers and badges, defunct band’s unsold merch, and other physical media. Also bring a reusable bag to carry your finds.

Ages: The event is open to all ages; families are welcome.

Venue: Rhizome DC, located in Washington, DC.

Note: The event is free and community-oriented. Be respectful to fellow swappers and to the space.
