Bach Cantata Series: UMD Choral Activities

UMD Choral Activities presents a short performance in its ongoing effort to sing all of J.S. Bach’s more than 200 cantatas. This program features BWV 107, *Was willst du dich betrüben* (“Why do you want to distress yourself”), a chorale cantata Bach wrote for Trinity Sunday during his second year in Leipzig.

The music explores divine comfort in times of struggle, combining virtuosic string writing with densely rhythmic vocal passages and vivid text painting in both the orchestral and choral parts. The performance is conducted by Kevin Crouch, with Katy Lee, Jonathan Kite, and Noah Tarjan as featured vocalists.
