Jazz Jams at Busboys and Poets

On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Jazz Jams at Busboys and Poets brings a lively community jazz session to Busboys and Poets Hyattsville. The evening is a partnership between Clarice Presents and Busboys and Poets, and it features Washington, D.C.–based saxophonist Elijah Jamal Balbed performing and leading an open community jam. Balbed’s band opens with a set at 7:30 PM, and after that, audience members are invited to join in: you can bring your own instrument and even call a tune. Taking part in the jam is entirely optional, and the whole event is free with no tickets required.

The event is informal and community-focused, offering both a performance and the chance to participate in a shared musical experience. Support for the evening comes from the Maryland State Arts Council, and the event is made possible by Busboys and Poets.
