Charlene Kaye: Diversity Shredder

Charlene Kaye brings Diversity Shredder, an unruly musical-comedy show about her life and work as an Asian woman who plays guitar with heavy-metal intensity. Blending comedy, storytelling, and live music, Kaye explores her eclectic musical history, from her beginnings as a folk singer-songwriter to her time shredding with wizard-rock band Team StarKid and creating gender-flipped cover bands such as Guns N’ Hoses and Labiahead.

Kaye is known for viral music-comedy videos, including “Every Taylor Swift Song,” which has received more than 100 million views. She is also the creator of the critically acclaimed show *Tiger Daughter: Or, How I Brought My Immigrant Mother Ultimate Shame*, presented by Margaret Cho and performed in sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2024 and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2025. That earlier show is scheduled to become Kaye’s first comedy special. *Diversity Shredder* promises a fast-moving, irreverent tour through her musical universe, with jokes, lessons about how music works, and plenty of unpredictable detours.
