Valeria Stewart - Argentinian Jazz Series
Valeria Stewart presents a special performance celebrating her Argentine and broader Latin American heritage alongside her American musical influences. Part of Blues Alley’s Hispanic Heritage Jazz Month Argentine spotlight, the program draws from her award-winning album *Raíces | Roots*, which includes original Spanish-language songs and beloved classics from Cuba and Argentina, as well as her forthcoming project *On a Wing*, a primarily English-language collection blending folk, roots, and global influences.
Born in Buenos Aires and raised in the Washington, D.C., area, Stewart is a guitarist, vocalist, and composer whose multilingual music brings together world, Latin, jazz, and Americana traditions. She performs with Kevin Dudley on lead Spanish guitar, Eugenio Ibarz on double bass, Jason Walker on percussion, and Grey Jacks on piano and harmonies. Argentine bandoneón virtuoso Emmanuel Trifilio makes a special appearance, adding the nostalgic sound of Buenos Aires and the evocative spirit of tango. Stewart is a 2026 Double Wammie winner for Best World Artist and Best Album.
