Rafi Bastos

Rafi Bastos brings his English-language stand-up show back to the DC Improv for a weekend of sharp observational comedy and stories shaped by his Brazilian and Jewish background. A 6-foot-7 comedian, producer, journalist, host, actor, and social-media personality, Bastos has built an international audience through viral performance clips and more than 370 million views on his YouTube channel.

His career began in Brazil, where he spent 17 years working in comedy and acting, helped develop American-style stand-up, opened a comedy club, and became known for challenging restrictive speech laws. He later became a regular at major clubs including New York’s Comedy Cellar, the Laugh Factory, and the Hollywood Improv, and was the first Brazilian comedian to headline Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival.
