Orrin Evans Trio
Orrin Evans Trio brings pianist and bandleader Orrin Evans to Blues Alley for an adventurous jazz performance. Evans is known for pairing muscular, raw-edged piano playing with subtle, unconventional ideas, moving freely among swing, blues, soul, and avant-garde jazz.
A fiercely independent artist, Evans has released more than 25 albums without major-label backing. His accomplishments include leading the 2018 DownBeat Critics Poll’s Rising Star Pianist category and earning two Grammy nominations. His work also includes the collective trio Tarbaby, the Eubanks-Evans-Experience guitar-and-piano project, the Brazilian ensemble Terreno Comum, and the Captain Black Big Band.
