Introduction to Etching
Introduction to Etching is a beginner-friendly, two-day workshop at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center focused on creating intaglio prints from copper plates. Participants will learn drypoint, hard-ground line etching, plate preparation, and printing, while also gaining practical knowledge about print-shop procedures, including cleaning, press setup, and locating or sourcing materials. The class is designed for people interested in working with line and tone and requires no previous experience.
Each participant will create a small copper-plate etching and edition using black ink and/or variable colors, depending on the interests and experience levels of the group. The workshop concludes with an opportunity for students to share and discuss their artwork.
