The Phillips Plays returns to the Phillips Collection on July 11, 2026, with a drop-in family program that invites participants to investigate the materials, methods, and ideas behind artworks. This July session focuses on Jacob Lawrence’s celebrated 60-panel *Migration Series*, exploring how the artist applied color one panel at a time. Families will then create their own artwork using a similar process in the studio. In addition to the hands-on art activity, a carpeted creative-play area with blocks, books, toys, and games is available for younger children.

When: Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Showtimes: This is a drop-in program; specific hours are not listed.
Tickets: No pricing information is provided; registration may be required but is not confirmed.
Activities: Hands-on art-making inspired by Jacob Lawrence’s color application technique; creative-play area with blocks, books, toys, and games.
Ages: Family-friendly; suitable for children and accompanying adults.
Venue: Phillips Collection, 1600 21st Street NW, Washington, DC.
Note: The session is part of a special series that explores the creative process of artists in the permanent collection and special exhibitions.
