The Inaugural Howard C. Liebengood Foundation Symposium

The inaugural Howard C. Liebengood Foundation Symposium examines the changing law enforcement landscape and the mental health crisis affecting first responders. Over two days, law enforcement leaders, mental health and health care professionals, researchers, educators, students, and bipartisan policymakers will consider evidence-informed ways to strengthen officer wellness, crisis response, resilience, and organizational leadership.

Sessions will address occupational stress in today’s policing environment; the factors contributing to elevated rates of suicide, PTSD, depression, and anxiety among law enforcement personnel; pre- and post-crisis intervention; adaptive leadership; and the ways policy and labor-management collaboration can improve officer health and agency stability. The symposium is organized by Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and the Howard C. Liebengood Foundation.
