My English Persian Kitchen

My English Persian Kitchen is a one-person play about an Iranian woman who escapes an abusive husband and leaves her home country, first resettling in England and later in Belfast. As she works to rebuild her life and sense of home, she finds comfort and strength in her mother’s Persian recipes. The production includes live onstage preparation of ash-e-reshteh, a traditional Persian noodle soup, using food as a way to explore memory, community, displacement, and belonging.

This US premiere comes from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is presented by Solas Nua in association with Mosaic Theater Company, with support from Culture Ireland. The production is credited to Hannah Khalil, from a story by Atoosa Sepehr, and Chris White.
