Stuart E. Eizenstat, the veteran American diplomat who served as U.S. Ambassador to the European Union and Deputy Secretary of both the Treasury and State, brings his book *The Art of Diplomacy: How American Negotiators Reached Historic Agreements That Changed the World* to Politics and Prose on Friday, August 28, 2026. He is an international lawyer in Washington, DC.
About Ambassador Carla A. Hills: She served as United States Trade Representative from 1989 to 1993, as a member of President George H.W. Bush’s Cabinet, and earlier as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division. She negotiated the North American Free Trade Agreement, led U.S. negotiations on the Uruguay Round that created the World Trade Organization, and helped found the law firm now known as Munger, Tolles & Olson. She has held leadership roles with the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the Inter-American Dialogue, the Council on Foreign Relations, and other organizations.
