Rhizome Writers’ Retreat

Rhizome Writers’ Retreat is a two-day, distraction-free writing intensive for participants at any stage of a project, from initial planning through drafting and revision. Writers receive an individual table and workspace in Rhizome DC’s spacious old house, with room for papers and books, plenty of quiet, and the option to share ideas and strategize with other participants.

The retreat includes focused writing periods, community check-ins, vegetarian lunches, coffee, tea, and snacks. The setting features large windows, artwork, and outdoor tables when weather permits. The organizers aim to help writers enter a sustained creative rhythm, and attendance is limited to six people.

When: Saturday and Sunday, October 10–11, 2026

Showtimes: 9:30 AM–5:30 PM each day

Schedule: Each day begins with welcome and project conversation from 9:30–10:00 AM, followed by writing from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Lunch runs from 12:00–1:00 PM, with another writing session from 1:00–3:00 PM. After a 3:00–3:30 PM break, writing continues from 3:30–5:00 PM, followed by drinks and a debrief from 5:00–5:30 PM.

Tickets: $125–$225

Registration: Registration is requested by October 7, 2026. Participants may email Rhizome to register without paying large processing fees, and an email registration option is also available for those attending only one day.

Scholarships: Scholarships are available.

Included: A dedicated workspace, quiet writing time, vegetarian lunch, coffee, tea, snacks, drinks, and optional peer support and project discussion.

Capacity: Six participants.

Phones and Wi-Fi: Participants are expected to set their phones aside during the retreat. Wi-Fi access is intentionally not provided as a free distraction.
