Rhizome Writers’ Retreat

Rhizome Writers’ Retreat is a two-day intensive for writers who need dedicated time, space, and minimal distractions to begin, develop, or complete a project. Participants work alongside other writers at Rhizome DC, with individual tables, room to spread out papers and books, and plenty of quiet. The retreat also offers optional supportive discussion and project strategizing.

The setting is an old house with large windows and artwork, with outdoor tables available if weather permits. Coffee, tea, snacks, and vegetarian lunch are provided. Phones will be put away during the retreat, and Wi-Fi is intentionally not provided free of charge. Attendance is limited to six writers.

When: Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11, 2026

Showtimes: 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. each day

Schedule: 9:30–10 a.m., welcome and discussion of projects; 10 a.m.–noon, writing; noon–1 p.m., lunch; 1–3 p.m., writing; 3–3:30 p.m., break; 3:30–5 p.m., writing; 5–5:30 p.m., drinks and debrief

Tickets: $125–$225, with scholarships available

Registration: Registration was requested by October 7. Participants could also register for only one day by contacting the organizers.
