The Secret Garden
The Secret Garden is Signature Theatre’s new production of the Tony Award-winning musical by Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman, based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic Victorian novel. After her parents die, 11-year-old Mary Lennox is sent to live with her wealthy, withdrawn uncle in a manor on the Yorkshire moors. As Mary explores the estate, she encounters its troubled inhabitants and uncovers the secrets of a neglected garden.
Mary’s determination to restore the garden gradually brings healing and renewed joy to the household. The production features a radiant score that includes “Lily’s Eyes,” “Come to My Garden,” and “How Could I Ever Know,” and is presented in a version created for Signature’s intimate stage.
