Spring Choral Showcase: UMD Chamber Singers
The Spring Choral Showcase presents the UMD Chamber Singers in an evening of choral music at the Dekelboum Concert Hall inside The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. Recognized as one of the nation’s most honored and respected collegiate ensembles, the Chamber Singers draw on a repertoire spanning more than 500 years of music history, and this program is designed to appeal to both the intellect and the emotions. The exact selections had not yet been announced at the time of the event listing, with repertoire to be revealed closer to the concert date. The performance is also available as a livestream for those unable to attend in person.
The event is part of the University of Maryland’s choral activities program, which is led by choral conducting alumnus Jason Max Ferdinand, D.M.A. ’15. Under this leadership, UMD’s choral program has gained international recognition, offering students a broad range of choral experiences spanning many styles and eras. Beyond campus performances, the UMD Concert Choir has collaborated with the National Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at major venues including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, and Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.
