Next Jazz Legacy is a national apprenticeship program created and led by renowned drummer and composer Terri Lyne Carrington in partnership with the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. This initiative provides mentorship and performance opportunities to emerging improvisers, with the 2026 cohort featuring Alden Hellmuth, Allison Phillips, and Devon Gates. The event takes place as part of the larger DC Jazz Festival celebration.
