No Prophets: The Fight to Save Democracy from Christian Nationalism

Jared Huffman presents *No Prophets: The Fight to Save Democracy from Christian Nationalism*, a discussion of the growing influence of Christian nationalism in American government and the effort to protect the separation of church and state. Huffman will be joined in conversation by Congressman Jamie Raskin.

Drawing on his experience in Congress and on research and previously untold accounts from inside government, Huffman examines the movement’s leaders, goals, and political strategy. He argues that Christian nationalism has contributed to instability across areas including science, education, foreign policy, and democratic institutions, while making the case that defending the values of a secular republic remains possible.

Huffman represents California’s 2nd Congressional District and founded the Congressional Freethought Caucus, which he co-chairs with Raskin. Raskin represents Maryland’s 8th District, serves as ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, and previously taught constitutional law at American University’s Washington College of Law. He is also the author of several books on democracy, constitutional issues, and students’ rights.
