Black Grace, hailed as one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary dance companies, brings its signature fusion of traditional Samoan dance and contemporary movement to the Center for the Arts. Founded in 1995 by acclaimed choreographer Neil Ieremia, the company has thrilled audiences at venues such as Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and New York City’s Joyce Theater with explosive physicality and rich storytelling. The Boston Globe describes the work as crossing geographic and social boundaries with innovative flair and theatricality, while The New York Times notes the troupe’s exhilarating, seemingly inexhaustible energy.
