The M.A.K.A.do: Make America Kingly Again!

The M.A.K.A.do: Make America Kingly Again! is an operatic, political, comic satire based on Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado. Reimagined in a grand, gilded oval-office setting, the production lampoons tyranny, political power, cancel culture, and foolishness across the political spectrum. The adaptation combines new English lyrics by Bari Biern, music inspired by John Philip Sousa, extravagant costumes and sets, and broad comedy.

Originally a satire of the Victorian British establishment, this new production uses laughter and music to take aim at contemporary political and social absurdities. The cast features a collection of familiar, larger-than-life characters designed to delight audiences while provoking them to consider what conventional discourse leaves unsaid.
