Watercolor Workshop: Monochromatic Diptychs with Paloma Vianey

Join artist Paloma Vianey for a hands-on watercolor workshop inspired by her current exhibition at the Mexican Cultural Institute. Through an introduction to color theory and monochromatic painting techniques, participants will explore how color can evoke memory, place, and emotion. Drawing inspiration from the artist’s exploration of visual connections between Ciudad Juárez and Washington, D.C., each participant will create their own pair of monochromatic diptychs based on places, memories, or landscapes that are meaningful to them, while learning the fundamentals of watercolor painting. No previous experience is required, and all materials will be provided.

She holds a BA in Art History from The University of Texas at El Paso and an MFA from Cornell University, and her work has been exhibited at institutions including the Phillips Collection, the Mexican Cultural Institute, and the El Paso Museum of Art.
